European School of Advanced Television: new jobs, new training, new tools

Objective

OBJECTIVES
The technical revolution which has taken place thanks to the arrival of digital technology, virtual reality and the development of networks has meant that employees of the European audio-visual industry are having to be retrained as quickly as possible. The aim of the project is to respond to these needs by improving the quality of initial and continuing training programmes dealing with digital and virtual-reality technologies by developing innovative teaching methods and training tools. The development work will be carried out in close co-operation with universities, initial and continuing training centres and the companies' specialist staff. To reduce training costs, the project will encourage self-training or distance learning.

ACTIVITIES
Eight training modules, focusing on digital audio and video signals, digital production and post-production, virtual editing and new images, will be produced by the various partners in accordance with their particular speciality. Course requirements will be specified. The training modules will be tested, evaluated, and adjusted if necessary. The project will culminate in a seminar to be attended by all of the partners (trainers and researchers), during which the training and teaching tools will be finalised.

PRODUCTS
The project will result in the development of short training programmes, supported by learning tools (CD-ROM), designed for people undergoing initial training and continuing training, and trainers.
