Training trade union representatives for social europe through new technologies

Objective

OBJECTIVES
In view of the need to increase employment while remaining competitive, it is generally accepted that the development of social policy and social dialogue plays an essential role in achieving an equilibrium and in combating unemployment, exclusion and unstable job situations. It is also accepted that the development of the information society must be carried out with human interest uppermost in mind and by introducing a European model of society. In order to acquaint the social players with the relevant European legislation and to enable them to put this legislation into practice it is essential that training institutes have suitable tools at their disposal. In the context of European social dialogue it is also essential to disseminate the best practices relating to the developed themes of mutual interest. The training institutes for trade union members - project partners - believe that these requirements are such that they should be catered for through the development of learning software.

ACTIVITIES
Under the project, transnational co-operative meetings will be organised between the project partners in order to determine the content of the programme. The contents will be determined by training institutes in France and Portugal and validated by the European Confederation of Trade Unions. They will then be tested in training programmes organised by trade union training bodies in France, the United Kingdom and Denmark.
