Training of managers in co-operative unions and in SMEs in the agriculture sector: Understanding and applying the CAP for Objective 1 regions

Objective

OBJECTIVES
In the peripheral regions of Europe, serious shortcomings have been observed in the exploitation of the possibilities offered by the common policies of the EU, and particularly by the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). The aim of the project is to develop a professional training method for managers in the agricultural sector. Furthermore, the project will establish training in the proper use of the factors which contribute to the regional development of regions in Objective 1, international co-operation and the envisaged reduction in the differentiation of the application of CAP mechanisms.

ACTIVITIES
The partners intend to create a database and a permanent agricultural training network whose common objective is to give agricultural managers a grounding in CAP mechanisms and, in particular, trends in agricultural prices. The methodology will be based on the creation of a database on the Common Organisations of the Market, which will be continually up-dated and will form the basis of the training modules. These will be sent by e-mail to the project's vocational training structures. Furthermore, measures for distributing the results and products have been proposed and will be based on a market study carried out for this purpose.

PRODUCTS
The project will result in two directly usable products, namely:
- a database;
- vocational training modules which will help to introduce trained managers to and familiarise them with, CAP mechanisms.
