Developing the ECCEAMST training network through improved telecommunication

Objective

OBJECTIVES
During a previous project implemented as part of the European COMETT II programme, the partners of this project created a European Consortium for On-going Education in the area of leading-edge science and technology affecting the meat sector. This network brings together over 350 companies and training institutions in the meat sector. To assist communication between the members and improve existing on-going training provision, the partners intend to make available methods for the analysis of training needs, training modules and other on-going training tools through the creation of an Internet server, MEAT-NET.

ACTIVITIES
A solid management, monitoring, evaluation and dissemination structure for the MEAT-NET server will first of all be set up by the partners. An analysis of on-going training needs will then be made according to a model built during the COMETT project. Training modules will then be developed on the basis of the needs identified and will be placed on the server, together with scientific databases which are of interest to members of the network. The usefulness and accessibility of the overall system will be tested and evaluated by a test group. When the product has been finalised, the partners will hold seminars for distribution to target audiences throughout Europe. User guides will be created and distributed.

PRODUCTS
- Implementation of an interactive lifelong training available via the Internet, relating to science and technology in the meat sector and intended for all socio-economic sectors affected by this field.
- Development of methods for the on-going analysis of training needs and identification of training options, creation of distance self-training modules.
- Making available scientific databases of interest to the meat sector.
