Development and testing of multimedia foreign language programmes in economics for Danish, French, Spanish for self and distance learning

Objective

OBJECTIVES
The objective of the project is to draw up an interactive multimedia programme for learning Danish, German, French and Spanish for economic purposes. These courses will be targeted in particular at employees of the SMEs who generally have little opportunity to follow courses such as these. In this context, it is interesting to note that the material has not been produced solely for teaching languages such as German, French or Spanish, but also for teaching languages such as Danish, a clearly less widely used language. These courses will be adapted for self-training and will be directed at individuals who already have a fair knowledge of these different languages. Self-assessment will form a significant part of this course.

ACTIVITIES
The Danish version of this programme will be drawn up in close co-operation with linguists, methodologists, language teachers and economic experts. The project will be produced on audio and video cassettes, and on a CD-ROM. All the glossaries will be translated into the official languages of all the participating countries. The interim assessment will be made by the experts from the enterprises involved.

PRODUCTS
- Preparation of 4 CD-ROM language versions.
- Preparation of accompanying manuals for the CD-ROMs.
- Video cassettes.
- Interim assessments and examination of all the language versions.
- Publication of the results of this project in the specialist press.
- Development of a system for adapting the course to other European languages.
- Improvement in language skills for vocational purposes.
