Development of a European vocational qualification for veterinary nurse training

Objective

OBJECTIVES
In order to provide a better foundation for a developing profession such as that of veterinary assistant and to encourage the transnational mobility of these professionals, the partners in this project have set a range of objectives. They will endeavour to promote this profession on the labour market, harmonise and improve existing training programmes linking them more closely to the profession, and to combine the training programmes of the various Member States with a view to achieving a European Qualification.

ACTIVITIES
The partners initially form a network of training institutions for veterinary assistants. Student and teacher exchanges are organised and a comparative analysis of the various programmes and curricula is started. Work on standardising the curricula is then carried out taking into account the requirements of those involved in the profession and the various different national and regional contexts. The partnership develops training modules common to the various countries concerned, giving priority to the use of distance training tools. The training programme is tried and tested in various training institutions and assessed by those involved in the profession. Finally, the partners try to obtain recognition of a European Qualification for veterinary assistants.

- Development of a flexible European training programme and curriculum open to veterinary auxiliaries.
