Objective
OBJECTIVES
Areas such as computing and construction are developing rapidly and new forms of qualifications and language training are needed, given that technical terminology is often borrowed from the English language. The demand for vocational language training courses (mother tongue or foreign languages) is growing and the project proposed is in line with this. The project will provide an electronic glossary and information on terminology in the less used and less taught languages in vocational training, as well as a multimedia language learning system. The project will also promote language qualifications as an important part of vocational training and will encourage self-training methods at the work place.
ACTIVITIES
The project will produce a multilingual computer glossary of technical terms in the fields of computing, construction and business administration. The languages will be Greek, Irish, and Portuguese, using English as the lingua franca, with the possibility of extending this glossary to other languages. This will be integrated into a self-training tool which will include audio and video techniques.
PRODUCTS
An identical multimedia system for all the Member States. This system will be marketed as a self-training tool for mother-tongue beginners, just as for foreign language beginners in the computing, construction and business administration fields.
