Objective
OBJECTIVES
The European shipping industry is undergoing major changes. In order to adapt to these changes, employees in this sector are forced to acquire new qualifications and skills. The intention of the project is to create a tool to help anticipate needs in terms of skills in order to adapt the training curricula to these new demands. It will also create a framework of reference emphasising deficiencies in the area of vocational training.
ACTIVITIES
In the first phase, the partners will draw up an inventory of existing vocational training courses and assess how accessible these are. They will then analyse the opportunities emerging on this market and the skills they require in order to realise them. Next, vocational training courses will have to be reorganised to promote a real strategy of success. The project will, therefore, involve the creation of a database on the Internet that will make it possible to promote transnational training and an accompanying validation system. Once this has been done, the results will be disseminated as widely as possible.
PRODUCTS
The project will conclude with the creation of a database to include all the opportunities relating to the shipping industry and the skills needed to realise them. A network will be set up to facilitate access to information concerning the training that will enable people to acquire these new skills. Lastly, the project will create a model linking market opportunities, the technologies that have to be used to realise them and the training necessary to master those technologies.
