Objective
OBJECTIVES
Although the introduction of the modern apprenticeship initiative in the UK has made it possible for acquired theoretical knowledge to be applied in real-life situations and training levels to be improved, there are still shortfalls in the training systems. The objective of the project is to develop means of introducing a European dimension to existing initial education and training programmes for the automotive engineering sector and to prepare young people for long-term employability.
ACTIVITIES
Concentrating initially on engineering training in the automotive sector in Austria, Germany and the UK, an analysis will be carried out of the skills which must be acquired, both for young people entering employment and the instructors, with a view to developing training systems which take the European dimension into account. Existing vocational education and training practices will be compared and alternative approaches developed, piloted and evaluated, with the aim of extending them to other sectors and countries.
PRODUCTS
Manuals and multimedia tools defining necessary skills will be created to serve learners and instructors alike.
