Training for teaching languages for vocational purposes to the visually impaired

Objective

OBJECTIVES
In co-operation with the EU, governments and societies are making strenuous efforts to fully integrate people with disabilities and impairments into the world of education, training and work. In order to enable visually impaired people to participate fully in the benefits of mobility within Europe, it is necessary for language trainers to acquire the skills to meet the needs of this group. The objective of this project is therefore to design training programmes and to deliver vocational language skills to visually impaired trainees, to prepare them for training or work in other Member States or to take part in a LEONARDO DA VINCI placement exchange project.

ACTIVITIES
The main activities of the project include the analysis of skills competencies through a process of consultation within the project team and beyond. National teams will prepare common design criteria and design and create a training programme. This will be tested on groups of young visually impaired trainees. The experience will then be evaluated, and the outcome will be disseminated via conferences and a range of media, including those which ensure access for visually impaired people.
