Objective
OBJECTIVES
In the metallurgy industry, it is of prime importance that the new technicians and engineers are rapidly initiated into the procedures and standards defined by the companies in which they work so that the initial vocational training period does not have to be extended. The EPHAESTUS objective is to set up initial vocational training programmes in order to quickly distribute new or existing skills in the metallurgy industry, particularly by using a multimedia system and distance teaching techniques. This training is mainly intended for new workers in the sector.
ACTIVITIES
One of the first stages of this project is to transfer recent results from the research and development sector to the tried and tested initial vocational training centres, and then to study the methods of forecasting qualifications in the metallurgy sector. A multimedia system will be built based on these factors.
PRODUCTS
- A CD-ROM for initial training in the metallurgy sector.
- A multimedia training programme.
- A survey on open and distance teaching for workers in the metallurgy sector.
