L’Ukraine crée un Centre d’excellence en biotechnologie analytique
L’Institut de biologie moléculaire et de génétique (IMBG) de l’Académie nationale des sciences d’Ukraine est l’une des principales institutions du pays en matière de recherche en sciences de la vie. L’IMBG dispose d’un programme exemplaire en biotechnologies analytiques, un domaine qui emploie des technologies de pointe pour piloter des macromolécules biologiques en tant que récepteurs et transducteurs de signaux hypersensibles pour diverses applications d’analyse. Le projet BIONANOSENS, financé par l’UE et axé sur le développement d’une nouvelle électronique biomoléculaire pour la bionanotechnologie analytique, jumelle l’IMBG avec des partenaires de l’UE afin de renforcer les capacités de cet Institut et de créer un Centre d’excellence de renommée internationale dans le domaine des biotechnologies analytiques. Les scientifiques de classe mondiale de l’Institut bénéficieront également de ce jumelage dans des domaines allant de la rédaction de propositions et de la gestion de subventions à la mise en réseau et au mentorat de jeunes scientifiques, complétant ainsi l’expertise scientifique actuelle avec les compétences nécessaires pour assurer l’afflux de fonds de recherche et de nouveaux talents.
Objectif
The Institute of Molecular Biology and Genetics (IMBG) is one of the leading research centres in Ukraine in the field of analytical biotechnology, with a great potential for the development of market-driven innovations. With the support of high-profile research and innovation (R&I) institutes from Europe, which, together with IMBG form the BIONANOSENS consortium, the Ukrainian institute should be positioned as an international Centre for Excellence in analytical biotechnology also beyond national borders. BIONANOSENS implements tailor-made twinning actions helping to build and strengthen capacities at the beneficiary’s end. Both the overall goal and the single objectives related to it (to establish institutional grant management procedures, better access to international networks, project proposal writing services, promotion and training of young researchers, service and facilitation to the dissemination and exploitation of research results etc.) are taking into full account IMBG’s current operational situation. BIONANOSENS further exploits the findings of a SWOT analysis, which was conducted for IMBG from 2012 to 2013 as part of the COMBIOM project (FP7). All activities are carried out against the state-of-the-art standards in managing EU funded R&I projects – including Responsible Research and Innovation, gender balance, open access (data management, Intellectual Property management), exploitation and commercialisation orientation, and ethics.
