Development of educational activities and material on EU food industry directives

Objective

Decision processes and procedures concerning EU directives are so complex that individual companies need to take on external consultants to implement them. Food industry companies find it difficult to integrate directives into their business strategy. They are considered too time-consuming when it comes to coping with international competition.

The objective of the project is therefore to create new food industry job profiles at management and middle management level. First and foremost the project intends to develop general qualifications which take direct account of the international market. The development of such international competences will be through the inclusion of new information technology in the classroom and distance learning courses. The courses will be developed in close co-operation between the social partners, educational institutions and businesses in the participating countries and will be adapted to national circumstances. The courses will be piloted in businesses, and evaluated prior to adjustment.

Impact
The strength of the project's impact lies in the involvement of the social partners, due to their political and economic role in developing continuing vocational training. The involvement of large export companies will facilitate the transfer of expertise between companies. The courses will be transferable to other target groups, businesses and countries.
