Objective
The unlimited availability of new technologies in our rapidly changing society inevitably has a considerable impact on communication and working methods. The speed and quality of all sorts of processes increase when they are introduced. But many do not imply changes in the way users think. This is however the case for Computer Aided Architectural Design.
The project is designed to help architects acquire a better understanding of the possibilities of CAAD for their profession. It focuses particularly on its creative innovation potential and the added value it provides in economic terms. In a first phase new proposals for curricula and course contents will be formulated. In a second phase the partnership will produce several modules which can be used for standard educational purposes as well as for distance learning and training on the job. These modules will concentrate on offering new possibilities and insight into the use of computers during the initial stages of the design process. They will be produced as a CD-Rom, in standard printed format and made available on a website.
Impact
The modules and course materials will be offered to various educational partners working in the architectural field and presented at conferences and workshops organised by the contractor. Students as well as architects will be able to benefit from the results of this project. Architects will enhance their operational capacity and students will be better prepared for the job market.
