Aquaculture short course programme 1997

Objective

This project is designed to help the European aquaculture sector to raise existing levels of expertise and technology, enabling aquaculture companies to optimise production and achieve greater efficiency and added value in the European aquaculture industry.

The short course programme, demonstrating extensive co-operation between universities and companies in the participating member states, is of strategic importance to the continuing development of Europe's aquaculture sector. It targets specific, industry identified needs and will facilitate the introduction and application of new and state of the art technologies. Additionally, the partnership will establish streamlined procedures for the administration, implementation, monitoring, control, evaluation and dissemination of results from short training course programmes. The project will specifically result in the development of quality training programmes through transnational university/industry co-operation.

Impact
The project will lead to the transfer of the results of R&D projects to SMEs, the transfer of technology and expertise to peripheral and less well developed regions of the EU, and the development of key/core competences and multidisciplinary skills in SMEs.
