Objective
The strong reduction in public investment in urban infrastructure and buildings maintenance due to the public finance crisis means that construction companies need to find new ways of financing building projects. Training is therefore needed in how to obtain private funds; how to undertake technical, economic and financial feasibility studies; efficient construction management; management of services linked to construction; and new forms of co-operation with public administration and banks. The aim of this project is to promote construction sector project financing and project management as the two key skills for the future.
The following methods will be used:
- benchmarking analysis of existing training programmes;
- identification of new occupational profiles, the skills required and possible means of accreditation;
- design and development of a new strategic training programme;
- production of a software tool for self-training in project financing and project management;
- testing of short training modules with construction companies and evaluation of feedback;
- involvement of public administration and banks and testing of whole training programme.
Impact
The project will lead to the development of standard qualifications and training in the field of project financing and project management at European level. This is important because of the globalisation of markets, co-operation process between European companies and the need for free movement of people.
