Objective
This project seeks to address the new skills required within the sector of radio journalism, where change has been brought about by the introduction of new technologies. There is a need to bring the older medium of radio and multimedia products together, especially on the Internet, to provide existing young radio journalists and trainees with the skills to deliver on the fastest growing medium of world-wide interest.
The project will develop, design and deliver a curriculum, training modules and an accreditation system for integrating multimedia training into radio journalism. The curriculum will be delivered in three modules to 40 trainees drawn from the partner countries. Trainees will travel to a different country to undertake each module. The competence-based accreditation system will be developed within the UK NVQ framework. A training manual and electronic-based materials (CD-Rom, diskette and on-line Internet services) will be produced.
Impact
By initiating and developing new means of working, the project will aid the identification of training needs and the transfer of information skills. It will also change programme procedures of radio broadcast journalism in relation to new skills and technologies.
