Objective
Trade union training centres need to improve their ability to cater for the needs of permanent trade union officials and workers' representatives in health and safety committees and works councils. This is particularly the case in the environmental area, where two aspects of training have been identified as priorities: the scientific and technical field and the way training is delivered and organised.
This project therefore aims to develop training for trade union "eco-advisors", so that officials and worker representatives can authoritatively take part in social dialogue dealing with the environment. The main product will be a set of two distance learning modules, on technology and "eco-management". This will be accessible on-line through the Internet. Self-assessment procedures will also be developed. The partners will also produce a practical guide to environmental training provision for trade unionists. Technology education seminars at plant level will be the main vehicle for demonstrating and disseminating these products.
Impact
The project will have an impact on social dialogue negotiations on the environment by increasing participants' command of the issues.
