Advanced courses on the use of membrane technology in environmental applications

Objective

This project is designed to enhance levels of knowledge with regard to the use of membrane technology for solving environmental problems. Course modules (lasting two days) will be organised on the use of membrane technology in different industrial sectors and on different topics.

At the first day of each course a general introduction will be provided with regard to the different fields of application and aspects of membrane science and technology. The second day will consist of lectures dealing with practical applications. Presentations on the use of membrane technology in a specific application area, economic assessment of the technology and examples of installed membrane separation units will be given by representatives of membrane and equipment suppliers or end users of the technology.

Impact
The training developed by this project will make the participants aware of the possibilities of membrane technology as a method for solving environmental problems. It will also serve as a 'platform' for discussing and solving problems within the industrial sector.
