Objective
Thirty years of education and equal opportunity initiatives have not markedly altered the situation and vulnerable position of unskilled women in the labour market. There are many reasons for this. Training provision has neither been adequately targeted at these people, nor has it taken serious account of their real situation.
The objective of this project is to develop a training method aimed at unskilled women on the labour market. It will set up a pilot training programme where this method and the previous experience of the trade union movement will be tested and further developed in a transnational context. In the first year, shop-stewards will be identified to recruit appropriate individuals and prepare for the pilot course. The second year will be devoted to the course itself, which will be divided into one week courses in the three countries involved and periods of home study. Seminars will be organised in the final year to evaluate and disseminate the results.
Impact
The outcome of the project in terms of the target group will be their increased self-assurance and ability to analyse social and working life. The results will have a wider impact through dissemination to the European trade union movement.
