Objective
The aim of this project is to establish a computer skills accreditation system on a pan-European basis by providing a basic, practical qualification which will show that the holder of the "European computer driving licence" can perform basic computer tasks competently. The approach was first introduced in Finland and its transferability has since been proved.
The project will adapt and develop test modules on the following subjects: basic concepts of information technology; computer use; word processing; spreadsheets; databases; presentation and drawing; and information network services. Candidates' performance will be recorded on a European computer skills card. When they have satisfactorily passed all modules, a European computer driving licence will be issued to them.
Impact
The modules produced by this project will allow people to build up their computer skills and become aware of the potential of information technology.
