Objective
The self-sufficient rural world is being depopulated. In order to attract new people into these areas and stabilise the population, a way must be found of settling people on the land by introducing measures that meet local needs and through multi-activity employment. Such a solution could be envisaged using second-speed agriculture, i.e. diversification-oriented farming. It could, however, also combine non-agricultural activities. Bearing in mind that this concept can be developed further, it is essential to establish which rural occupations and their components are suitable for multi-activity employment. The partners involved in this survey/analysis will define "reference job-profiles", taking account of possible combinations of activities in rural areas, with these profiles forming the basis of potential training courses. The partners will then design a methodology to analyse and anticipate needs so as to improve the quality and innovative capacity of vocational training programmes in the partner regions.
Recognition and approval of skills and know-how specific to the rural world is an important objective for the partnership, firstly in order to re-establish the value of cultural identities, and secondly for the purposes of the various occupations identified. The partners will work on various regions with different cultures and take account of this in their analysis to enable training to be developed on the basis of local cultural identity.
Impact
Vocational training decision-makers will benefit from having a methodology to analyse and anticipate training needs for multi-activity employment in rural areas. Such a system will enable them to adapt training to meet the needs of the area. Maintaining the population and settling people who wish to work at a variety of activities on the land could have a large-scale impact on rural development.
