Ways of teaching transnational standards for safety in electronic systems - development of didactic concepts in vocational education

Objective

In the partner countries of the EU, electrical systems have to be constructed and maintained in accordance with technical safety norms. The technical competence required by employees for working in the various EU countries will be achieved when transnational regulations and provisions specified in national norms are included as part of the basic knowledge to be learned during initial vocational training in the partner countries. The aim of this project is to develop a training module entitled "Safety in electrotechnical systems" with a curriculum, training programme, examination requirements and materials/aids for teaching. It is hoped that the project will contribute towards the harmonisation of curriculum content, methods of monitoring learning and innovative teaching models from the point of view of imparting knowledge of international electrotechnical standards. The objective is to develop certification of knowledge, abilities and skills recognised at European level.

A management group and groups of experts will be set up at national level in each of the partner countries. The management groups will provide technical and organisational support for the project as well as draft suggestions and procedural methods during the course of the project. The groups of experts, which will include representatives from industry, the crafts and trades sectors, the social partners as well as vocational school teachers, are needed in order to provide specialist knowledge. The national groups of experts will meet at various stages of the project with the co-operation and involvement of the management group so as to exchange experiences and prepare joint positions on aspects of content. Publication of the project materials and the experience gained will also enable a pan-European approximation of training modules in other industrial and technical areas.

Impact
The project represents a contribution towards an international alignment of teaching content and its certification by involving a wide range of players.
