Objective
Technological change in the wood and furniture sector has been intense during the last ten years. These changes have led to a need for technicians with up-dated education. As vocational training centres encounter problems in adapting their training provision, this project will develop multimedia training technology as a fast and more efficient way of responding to current and future human resource needs in the wood and furniture sectors.
The partners are all members of EUROLIGNA, whose objective is to encourage co-operation between universities and European wood/furniture sector companies. In this project they will work together on the design and development of a specific wood and furniture sector multimedia programme. Three multimedia training materials will be produced on CD-Rom, supported by complementary documentation concerning the following wood/furniture sector topics: stain and varnishes (problems and solutions); first and second wood transformation CN machining; and wood construction. The multimedia materials and publications will be produced in Spanish, English, French and German.
Impact
This project will improve the quality of vocational training in the European wood/furniture industry and ultimately contribute to the competitiveness of this sector as a whole.
