Women of Barcelona for the 21st Century

Objective

It is well known that unemployed people over 40 years old constitute the group that has the greatest difficulties in returning to the labour market. For women the difficulty is even greater. When they decide to return to work, generally after a period devoted to their family, their professional qualifications are out of date and there is prejudice with regard to their ability to learn new skills. The only option that these women have is to remain unemployed or to try an independent activity, although they are often unqualified to do this.

The project will develop innovative training materials and computer supports that will combine flexible self-training with tutoring and group sessions. The partners will set up a training system that will enable women to take on telework or create their own small businesses in information and communication service sectors.

Impact
The project will constitute a bridge that allows women to use new technologies to return to the labour market or to begin an independent activity with success.
