Objective
One of the main problems construction sector workers and students have when they go to work in another EU country is a difficulty in mastering the foreign language terms for the tools, equipment, machines and techniques that are specific to their profession. To resolve this problem, this project will produce a dictionary of some 5,000 technical terms in five languages (Spanish, English, Italian, Portuguese and French).
The dictionary will also be produced in multimedia format. The terms chosen will be those that are most commonly used in the construction sector. Most will be terms that are used in all types of construction work but some will be specific to individual occupations.
Impact
The dictionary will increase language course up-take amongst young people in initial vocational training, construction apprentices, teachers, training managers and company employees.
