Self learning in continuing training

Objective

To deal with today's fast technological changes, there is a compelling need to up-grade the qualifications of the workforce through lifelong learning activities. The focus of this project is the design of distance learning programmes for trainees who need to up-date their knowledge of professional and academic skills.

Trainers will be encouraged first to determine the training needs of their potential students and will be given the necessary academic and practical tools for this task. The next stage will deal with the design of ascending levels of modules which will provide an opportunity for a continuous process of learning beginning with the basic standard and moving upwards to higher education/vocational training. The mode of this training will be distance or open learning.

Impact
This project will encourage and assist students who are unable to attend teaching institutions on a regular basis. It will provide new learning opportunities outside traditional teaching programmes.
