Objective
The aim of this project is to increase the breadth of vocational training in supported employment (previously known as sheltered employment), to include interpersonal skills required by employers in the open labour market. It will also develop open learning advocacy (or empowerment) training for disabled people in supported and open employment in order that they can become involved in the decision making process that effects their careers and own lifelong learning.
Phase one of the project will deal with comparative research and training needs analysis related to advocacy skills required by disabled people. Phase two will entail the development of an open learning manual for disabled people and for employers. Phase three will see the piloting of training materials with disabled people in supported and open employment.
Impact
The project will increase the employability of those people excluded from the labour market who find it difficult to find or sustain employment. This affects the whole of Europe and improvements in this field will benefit the whole of the European Union.
