New models for planning and certifying initial vocational training

Objective

The training system at regional level in Italy is focused on initial vocational training and is targeted at young people who have completed compulsory education. However, continuing training is progressing in political, cultural and financial terms. All the partners agree on the common requirement for new initial vocational training systems to be tailored to new employment opportunities.

The objectives of this pilot project are to improve the quality and efficiency of initial vocational training; to test a certification and validation methodology; and to establish durable co-operation with the project partners. The work will focus on initial vocational training in the hotel and tourism sector. A final publication will be produced in three languages and the results of the project will be disseminated at a seminar.

Impact
The impact of the project will be the reorganisation of initial vocational training in the hotel and tourism sector; the strengthening of the training system at regional level; and the transparency of certification and validation.
