Development of methods and materials for the improvement of initial and continuing training in the tourism and catering sector

Objective

The aim of this project is to improve the quality and capacity of innovation of initial and continuing vocational training in the tourism sector, through the experimentation and Europe-wide dissemination of training models of the "Educational Simulimpresa" method. This method is focused on the development of practical training and "knowing how to do".

The partnership will undertake a comparison of occupational profiles, develop teaching methods, set up arrangements for certification, and create an instrument for permanent up-dating of tourism sector workers. The partners will communicate using the Internet, e-mail and a web site. Two training courses will be developed, one for "travel agency engineers" and the other for hotel reception employees. They will include training units on the development of market incentives. The partners will also produce a hypertext software programme on "quality and safety of services in tourism companies", comprising a distance training module and a guide for tutors.

Impact
This project will develop quality and safety in tourism companies and will promote mobility in the European tourism sector workforce.
