HyFlow: Development of a sustainable hybrid storage system based on high power vanadium redox flow battery and supercapacitor – technology

Report on load profiles for HESS applications (opens in new window)

Applications for HESS are categorized in micro gird behind the meter point and gridservice applications Control strategies EMS of the HESS strongly dependent on the application scenario and the resulting load data from applications The database for HESS applications analysis in WP3 and WP4 will be summed up in a report Del 31

Life cycle assessment (opens in new window)

The life cycle inventory, consisting of the mass- and energy balance for the HESS/VRFB system, will be compiled together with project partners and based on the results from WP2 and WP3. (Del 3.7)

Report on HESS requirements for off-grid applications (opens in new window)

ICT will compile the necessary data for the assessment of off-grid applications and will develop a concept for a SC/VRFB hybrid for black start capabilities with subcontractor Siemens. This will be sumped up in a report (Del 4.4).

Market potential analysis (opens in new window)

Relevant use cases and appropriate system capacities are elaborated to evaluate future market potentials for the developed HESS system. The market potential analysis will be reported by EI-JKU (Del 3.6).

Installation of the HESS industry demonstrator including functionality tests (opens in new window)

The SC bank will be set-up at the project partner FQ and delivered to ICT. Therefore, an already installed LiFePo battery will be removed and the SC will be integrated on the DC-port. Under supervision of FQ, a subcontractor will implement the SC bank to the energy system at ICT. (Del 4.3)
