Portfolio scheme and validation of skills

Objective

The parties behind this project have been inspired by the European Union's policy on skill cards, set out in the white paper "Teaching and learning - towards the learning society". It reflects the theme of lifelong education and training, and will have at its core a call for more effective assessment tools.

The project aims to produce a skills portfolio, a sort of aide-memoire for the benefit of trainees, training bodies and companies, which will enable skills to be recognised and validated according to pre-defined accreditation criteria.

Cooperation between the project promoter and the partner regions will culminate in the joint definition of a specification and the creation of dissemination and training tools designed to be used in regional vocational training policies. The tools already used by partner businesses - skills trees, automatic skills validation systems and the skills portfolio - will be refined and brought to a wider audience. Starting from a regional perspective and dealing initially as an experiment with a few selected sectors of activity, the results of the project will subsequently enable the definition of a methodology recognised across Europe.

Impact
This project will facilitate the export of services and human resources on a European scale.
