Objective
While the audio-visual sector is undergoing rapid technological evolution, neither the techniques of the digital revolution, nor their socio-economic and legal consequences have been mastered by professionals.
The goal of this pilot project is to implement a vocational training network for learning to use new technology in the audio-visual sector.
MATIN will begin by creating technical databases on the new material available to professionals for their audio-visual and multimedia projects. The areas concerned include: soft copy, with digital bearing and mixing consoles; video editing, with coding and regular or computerised editors; artwork, with state-of-the-art graphic art works and 3D systems; and production equipment, with stage equipment and lighting. MATIN will then work towards creating economic and legal databases referenced to European directives and national laws, and on analysing the effects of new technology on intellectual property. Finally, MATIN will contribute to starting up discussion and research forums with professionals in training.
The final results, in addition to a glossary of terms used in new technologies, will be made available on CD-ROM and on the Internet.
Impact
This pilot project will draw together the builders, distributors and users of new audio-visual technology.
