Objective
The European Federation for Welding, Joining and Cutting (EWF) has been successful in implementing a course quality assurance system (relevant to all welding-related professional levels), with training organisations in all EU countries. However, the harmonised certification scheme now faces two main problems. Specifically, the evolution of: the industry needs of personnel in welding related activities; and the training needs of welding professionals (both qualified and unqualified). It will be necessary, therefore, to carry out an analysis of the emerging needs of the industry and welding professionals.
Authorised national bodies will establish contact with former trainees and collect enough information to run an analysis of the impact of the training they undertook and arrive at conclusions about the evolution of job functions in welding and the strengths and weaknesses of EWF courses.
