Objective
Vocational training needs to be adapted to keep up with economic and social change. With the reduction of the number of jobs in core production areas there is the danger that young people who receive no initial training to help them with the transition to working life will remain excluded from the labour market. Key qualifications are crucial to this, especially in the preparation for lifelong learning and the development of firms into learning organizations. Also, from analyses of the literature and statistical comparisons there is also a need for occupations to provide initial training in the ITK divisions of Multimedia/EDP, Telecommunications, and Marketing/Advertising.
An important goal of the project is graduate "hirability". Graduates should be in demand in the labour market and employable by firms. Further objectives to be pursued in meeting this aim is, among others, the design of new occupations for the information society, comprehensibility of qualifications, adaptation of the content of vocational training to changed requirements, and a contribution to the reduction of youth unemployment.
The object of the FUTUREPROF project is to develop modern, "European" occupations for which there are good future prospects in the marketplace and provide initial training. As a starting point for the development of these training occupations, at least 10 occupational profiles will be developed which are common to all partner countries. The content of the training will be derived from these occupational profiles and appropriate curricula will be developed.
Impact
The procedure for the international development of training occupations can be transferred to any other line of business which involves training and continuing education. All results can be taken over intact, or as discussed, adapted, and changed products.
