Objective
ORTHO-ICON will develop and implement short-term, intensive technology training courses designed to improve the ability of orthodontics teachers and trainers to use open and distance learning materials, including multimedia educational software.
After an assessment of skill and training needs in the field of transfer and application of technology products, training courses will be developed and piloted. At an early stage training materials will be available on paper and CD-ROM, so that the target groups can familiarise themselves with new training delivery methods. At a later stage, courses and materials will be made accessible on-line via the internet.
Impact
The project will improve the ability of orthodontics teachers and trainers to use open and distance learning materials and of producers to design such materials. The long-term impact will be through the widespread use of this educational software and multimedia, thus improving continuing vocational training, lifelong learning and the quality of dental health and orthodontic care throughout Europe.
