Objective
The textile and clothing industry is characterised by new material and production technology with a high degree of automation and integrated information systems. Environmental demands require new finishing and dyeing knowledge/techniques. The industry needs to be able to access specialised skills from training institutions.
The main goal of this project is to develop continuing education/training for operator and higher technical levels in the textile and clothing industry, using communication technology and open and flexible learning. A transnational network will be established for cooperation on skill requirements and training needs. The project partnership will develop a new approach to training that is more relevant to emerging job profiles and modern production technology.
The education and training will be organised in a modular format in order to ensure transnational recognition and acceptance of qualifications. The materials produced will contain check-lists, questionnaires, and guidance on the use of different training models and methods. Other outcomes will include a more professional approach to training, new job profiles in the textile and clothing industry, and an improved understanding of open and flexible learning.
Impact
The project will meet the specialised continuing training needs of the textile and clothing industry by extending and improving existing training by developing new organisational models and methodologies for distance learning.
