Spin-Off Académico

Objective

The 'Academic spin-off' approach is a means of offering new business opportunities to young graduates, PhD students, teachers and researchers, whilst at the same time encouraging technology transfer from universities to SMEs. The approach comprises the following elements: motivation and identification of project ideas; validating project ideas; and project development; and consolidation of enterprises. This project will pioneer the approach on a transnational level and develop relevant information and training materials, namely a product called the 'Entrepreneurs One-Stop Shop'.

The first phase of the project will cover a the study of regional experiences of 'spin-offs' and the creation of the network. Existing methodologies will be reviewed and monitored with a view to establishing ways of transferring best practice. From this, relevant training and information materials will be developed. In the second phase, the partners will pilot the developed materials with local SMEs. The third phase of the project will be devoted to wider dissemination of the results.

Impact
The outcomes of this project will promote the internationalisation of the 'Academic spin-off' approach and lead to the creation of new innovative businesses in the regions involved.
