European maintenance supervisor of mechanical equipment

Objective

The aim of the EUMAS project is to contribute to the development of a new qualification for craftsmen and craftswomen working in the industrial maintenance sector. This will be achieved through the design of a basic transnational training framework, together with a relevant set of reference documents (training modules) comprising a continuing vocational training course in the use of mechanical equipment for European maintenance supervisors.

To meet the market needs of European industry, the course will be constantly updated on a Pan-European basis. The project will also set up testing and certification arrangements, with a view to achieving transparency and comparability of job qualifications in a European context.

Impact
EUMAS will have a direct impact on the labour market by developing new qualifications and improving easier access to training. For companies, especially SMEs, the project will provide new approaches to training which they can use to respond to current changes in work organisation. National vocational education bodies will benefit from the project's results by having access to a product that can be integrated into national systems, leading to improved standards across Europe.
