Objective
This project will promote vocational training for previously untrained handicapped young people, especially high-school graduates, and will improve their employment prospects through their involvement in continuing education in the environmental sector. At the same time, the project will intensify and further develop cooperation in vocational training for the handicapped between schools in all federal provinces and their inclusion in the dialogue with social partners, administrative bodies, firms and associations. To support and promote this objective, a European network of partnerships will be built up, which will carry out joint measures, exchange and disseminate results, and promote the specialist dialogue and implementation of environmental education.
The project will develop teaching syllabuses and curriculum models and supplement existing curricula in the textile cleaning (innovative methods), gardening (use of hazardous substances such as poisons), lacquering (waste disposal technology), and home economics (gene-manipulated food) areas. The aim is to have the new syllabuses recognised at the national and international levels, a process which will be accelerated by the European network.
Impact
Through the introduction of innovative environmental technologies into vocational training, the spectrum of occupations open to handicapped young people will be broadened and adapted to the requirements of the modern labour market, so that their employment prospects will be considerably improved.
