Euro automobile module

Objective

As a replacement for the wide variety of continuing education in the car business in EU countries, this pilot project will create a continuing education program, uniform in content and final qualification, leading to the "Euro Automobile Manager" diploma, which will be recognised throughout Europe. Both the subject matter and the organisation of the national continuing education programs will be taken into account, in the form of a module, as typical national characteristics.

The target group will be people who have completed initial training in the auto trade with one year of vocational training; people returning to employment; and, in particular, women, who frequently abandon the workshop after initial training and thus often have no appropriate professional experience.

Curricula will be produced for the sub-categories of vehicle technology and industrial organisation and also subjects such as foreign languages and communication. The project partners will ensure that the continuing education in the subjects repair, customer service, industrial management, and European legal, work, quality, and environmental standards are harmonised throughout Europe, so as to follow the example of the auto manufacturers and supply companies, which have long been producing in the European market. Successful use of the module presupposes that the learners will be self-motivated, learn independently and get the opportunity to select the required components and coordinate them with their in-company and national continuing education.

Impact
Training as "Euro Automobile Manager" will take account of the requirements of the internal market for harmonisation of continuing education and recognition of qualifications; increase the mobility of workers; and give women and 'side entrants' (such as the unemployed) access to management levels in small and medium-sized firms, which they could not normally reach because of in-company selection procedures.
