Objective
The climate in which the employed and unemployed look for work has changed and continues to change still. It is no longer common for individuals to choose a career, train for that career and subsequently focus on that for their working life. Increasingly, workers must change attitudes, occupational areas and modes of work in order to remain employed. Furthermore, to remain employable they must continually re-assess and up-date skills.
This project aims to develop a system to provide sustained information and guidance (leading to vocational training or jobs), self-development and support. This will include focused networking of relevant organisations; responding to the changing job market development of training sessions and/or workshops for vocational guidance counselling; and a pilot to evaluate and refine system and training. The system will be adaptable to all disadvantaged groups and will be designed to be transferable.
The project will produce: a strategy and concept - contained in the reports, survey analysis and pilot design; materials used to implement strategy and concepts in handbooks; and specific marketing materials designed to raise awareness.
Impact
It is anticipated that this project will result in more effective employees, job/vocational training seekers and consequently more effective/cost-effective vocational training.
