Objective
The objective of this project is to develop and pilot a new European qualification in industrial laser technology for craft/technician-level workers in SMEs. The project will take workers at craft engineering level to technician status by re-training them to use industrial laser technology.
The work is divided into four phases. A definition phase will determine a common curriculum, taking into account the national differences and needs and will involve inputs from employers associations and companies. A development phase will focus on curriculum development by the three partners, making use of their particular expertise and experience. A pilot phase will involve each partner piloting in their own country, with some delivery shared by the use of teleconferencing. Lastly, a training of trainers phase will involve the trainers in the piloting of the curriculum, so that they can gain from both observation and participation in the pilot and give feedback.
The partners see the accreditation of the resulting qualification in each of their countries as an important outcome that will further the up-take of laser technology and training in European SMEs. The accreditation process will take into account the different systems of training and accreditation in the three countries.
Impact
The project will create a new European qualification in the use of industrial lasers for craft/technician workers in SMEs.
