The Phoenix Enterprise Project

Objective

There is an identified need within all European countries for a more highly skilled and flexible workforce. In the Espinho region, the Portuguese partners of this project are working within an anti-poverty programme, trying to develop enterprise skills for young people who would otherwise have no chance of employment. In the Dutch partner region, many young people come from disadvantaged backgrounds and have little motivation to continue their studies. The UK partners have a specific problem delivering training for ex-offenders and others who are disadvantaged in the labour market. This project will therefore develop appropriate learning and training solutions for these target groups.

The main products will be CD-ROM multimedia materials developed in conjunction with each partner and with advice end guidance from local industry and translations of the multimedia materials conducted by Dutch and Portuguese partners. Training will also be developed for trainers, taking good practice from each of the partner countries. Two trainers from each partner organisation will be trained on the delivery of the final products.

Impact
The project will enhance both the basic and personal pre-vocational skills for young disadvantaged people, as it is these skills which employers say they need for work and enterprise.
