Objective
In Hungary there is scope for promoting activities based on natural resources to stimulate regional development. Tourism, health and thermal tourism and environmental protection have been identified as potential growth areas. At present relevant skills training is not provided. This project aims to fill this gap through the development of appropriate training programmes in partnership with educational establishments and professional organisations involved in tourism.
The partnership will develop curricula for different target groups. Four-semester courses will be designed for students in higher education. Basic modules in communication and language skills, computing and learning strategy, and vocational modules covering trade, accounting, catering, health care and environmental protection will be developed for 16-18 year olds. Orientation modules focusing on craft skills will be created for 14-16 year olds. Materials will be adapted for local use and include teaching manuals, exercises and audio-visual teaching aids. Modules and materials will be developed to European standards. The programme will support different learning frameworks and be designed for use in full and part time education.
The programme also provides for teacher training modules, staff and student placements in partner organisations and for the development of a credit transfer system.
Impact
The project will lead to the creation of a European network of educational establishments and business organisations in the tourism and environmental protection sectors, promote vocational training and enhance the employment prospects of young people.
