Objective
One key objective of the project proposed is the demonstration of a new small- scale biomass CHP technology based on a screw-type steam engine with a nominal electricity capacity of 800kW suitable for multi-fuel feed. The second key aim is the improvement of plant availability and reduction of operating costs by using a new automatic steam boiler cleaning system.
The EU cost targets defined in key action 5.2.1 of the proposal call (investment costs < 1500Euro/kWe; electricity production costs < 0.05Euro/kWh) will be kept by the new and innovative small-scale biomass CHP technology. Technological targets are to show that the overall efficiency is above 90% and the electric efficiency is about 14%. This project contributes to achieving both the objectives addressed in the White Paper of the European Commission for renewable energy sources as well as the Kyoto objectives. Moreover, the project proposed will contribute to a CO2 emission reduction of 9,000t/a.
