ADVANCED COPPER-BRASS RADIATORS FOR THE CARS AND COMMERCIAL VEHICLES OF TOMORROW

Objective

The main objective of the project is to adapt the results of recent research on the laser welding of thin-wall brass tubes, the development of a lead-free brazing alloy, and new structural alloys, to produce car and commercial vehicle radiators made of copper and brass. The technologies to be utilized offer both lower manufacturing costs and better in-service performance coupled with environmental benefits through improved recyclability. At least 50 new radiator assemblies will be constructed.
