Exploitable results
The EBR service (launched in September 1998) provides reliable information on about 14 millions of companies throughout Europe. EBR II enlarged the network as to include 12 European Countries (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and UK) allowing users to get official information of companies and enterprises registered at national level. All interactions with the system occur through a standard World Wide Web browser.
EBR II confirmed the overall approach adopted by the previous EBR project:
· no changes were required to the current national systems - all local systems are enabled to join the EBR network by developing a local interface; · user interface design freedom to fit local presentation needs by self-designed solutions or by local customizations of a common user interface featured by multi-language capabilities, easy system extension to other countries - by limiting the effort needed by any newcomer, offering a ready-to-run package, keeping the prerequisites list very simple and affordable even by small organizations, conducting internal and external surveys on system usability and service acknowledgement.
