Advanced database linkages in biotechnology

CORDIS provides links to public deliverables and publications of HORIZON projects.

Links to deliverables and publications from FP7 projects, as well as links to some specific result types such as dataset and software, are dynamically retrieved from OpenAIRE .

Deliverables

Summary: ADLIB links an unspecified number of biotechnology databases. Using out softLink facility, users can navigate through these databases and thus collate primary (raw) scientific data and secondary literature information. Using these results, the user can then identify and reach "target" databases such as culture collections and primary literature. ADLIB is therefore the first One-Stop-Shop for biotechnology information. An added advantage is that new databases, which have not been able to build up a sufficiently large customer base, can be linked to from traditional products. ADLIB has been demonstrated to a range of public and private sector users and database producers. It has been refined in response to their reactions and is now a "working service" ready for commercial exploitation.
Summary: ADLIB demonstrated the feasibility of using the Z39.50 information retrieval standard to enable genetic sequence data to be retrieved by users of a traditional on-line database host for the first time. This means that scientists using the on-line host can search within its familiar interface and take advantage of its security features. This result can be used to provide a generic, commercial, sequence retrieval capability within the international commercial Z39.50 environment.
Summary: During the ADLIB project, the Biocommerce Abstracts and Directory database was loaded on the DIMDI host so that its relevance to DIMDI users could be assessed. This exposure has been successful and PJB Publications and DIMDI have now concluded a commercial agreement to continue this as a commercial service.
