Research of antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral compounds in specific microalgae

Objective

Studies on microalgae and their biological activities revealed the metabolism of innovating molecules, such as fungicide, bactericide, antiviral and antitumoral substrances, highly promising in medical and pharmacological fields: Related to this potential, our project consists of an experimental research on our microalgae collection (about 50 species) in order to determine: 1) their capacity of molecular biosynthesis of active substances according to the properties which are investigated 2) the metabolite composition and their action fields with biological tests and/or molecular biology methods 3) and to establish methodologies of extraction and purification of these substances. This is the first step towards a future industrial production by our company, to choose microalgae and to select innovating molecules with pharmacological and cosmetic applications.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
